Getting started

We serve new entrepreneurial talent by guiding them through the necessary steps to ensure thorough preparation.  And it shows.  85% of our start-up clients are in business after two years or more.
How do we do it?

Our vision is to develop highly- skilled entrepreneurs who build strong locally-owned companies.  We work with individuals who are committed to doing what it takes to make their business happen.   We listen, guide, clarify the process and offer the right tools at the right time.

Be Clear – is your idea feasible?

A good idea isn’t enough.  It’s important to be clear on the financial viability of a business.  What often separates a good idea from a successful start-up is the ability to focus and get clear on the important details.  This is the time to answer the critical questions.

  •  Is there a market for the product or service you want to offer and if so, are enough people willing to pay enough money to make a profit?
  • Are you ready, willing and able to be an entrepreneur?

Our online tools and resources are designed to help entrepreneurs intelligently answer these questions.

Be Smart – build your business plan

Starting a business can be overwhelming.  According to the University of Colorado, if you break down your business into a business plan, it can motivate you because it presents the business in an organized fashion.  If you spend the time to outline your business in detail, you begin to understand what it will take to get your dream off the ground. Following a business plan can help you to map out the growth of your company and give you confidence when you need it.

Our online webinar, Be Smart Business Planning, walks you through the components of a business plan providing explanations and examples for you to gain a more thorough understanding of this foundational document.

If you prefer to work offline, purchase one of our Core Four Business Planning Manuals by calling, 877-870-6630, or check out the book How to Write a Business Plan by Mike McKeever.  Instructor-led business planning courses are also an option. They are offered locally through UMD CED and UWS SBDC
