Managers Direct Work. Leaders Engage Employees to Perform.
To build your business it is more important than ever to have the skills necessary to engage your employees. When employees are engaged, they perform at high levels of effectiveness, enabling you to focus on the strategic direction of your business.
Join other like-minded business owners in further developing your leadership skills in this six-session leadership development program. Through engaging activities, participants will gain a deeper understanding of their self and of those they lead. This understanding allows the leader to tailor their approach based on their team member’s motivations, personality types, and in different situations.
- 6 interactive facilitated sessions, 3 hours per night, dinner included
- Materials and workbook provided with simple, practical tools
- A completed leadership development plan
- A network of peers and a team of experts to share in accountability, challenges, and successes
Session #1: Understanding Self – Leaders will complete the StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment to gain an understanding of their potential areas of strengths and to assist in identifying their potential blind spots when it comes to communicating with others.
Session #2: Understanding Others – Leaders will learn coaching concepts and principles that will build their understanding of employees, customers, and others around them. They will explore emotional intelligence in order to more effectively interact with others.
Session #3: Communication and Conflict – Leaders will gain the skills necessary to more effectively communicate their needs while delegating tasks and building the team. They will also learn how to resolve workplace conflicts and thus enhance productivity and morale.
Session #4: Influencing for Success – Leadership types will be explored so participants can gain a clear understanding of their own natural style. Leaders will learn influencing strategies to share their vision and gain the commitment of their employees. Recognition techniques to celebrate successes will also be explored.
Session #5: Coaching for Peak Performance – Leaders will expand on their knowledge of their team’s motivations and gain skills necessary to coach individuals to peak performance. Effective decision making techniques will be practiced.
Session #6: Leadership Development Plan Presentation – Each leader will present their Leadership Development Plan and how they plan to implement the skills learned in the program.

$600 per person. Business partners added for an additional $100. Payment arrangements and scholarships available. If scholarship awarded cost is $200/individual or $300/two.
ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION
Class size is limited – no more than 10 non-competing businesses selected from the area. Only available to businesses that have participated in and completed the Growing Neighborhood Businesses – Be Strategic program. Business owners must commit to attending all six learning sessions and individual advising meetings.
